History
My name is Steve Archer, I have developed the Arch Football and Arch Math
concept. The finger football is probably as old as football itself. In an age were electronic games, computers and a myriad of gadgets are available to kids….Finger football is still one of their favorites. I have just taken the concept and provided a better playing field with a real goal post instead of using your fingers to make the post.
Years ago back in 1965, I was a student at Washington Jr. High school and that is where I first learned to play finger football. We would be in study hall, which was the cafeteria, and someone would tear a piece of paper from their spiral notebook and fold triangular folds similar to folding a flag. My buddies were Fred Hudgins, Dan Sutherland and Ron Packer.
Years later, I folded the paper and made a triangular football and played with my daughter and son using a lapboard as the table. We seemed to enjoy playing so much I decided to make a more permanent board.
I painted the background of the board green then taped off yard lines and painted them white and took a small finger nail brush and painted in the yard line numbers
Finally, I poured clear acrylic over the surface and let it dry. I still have it with many other versions.
A few years ago, I decided to make it into a commercial product. I took my design to a company and they produced the plastic portion of the board and I fabricated the wooden frame and designed a goal post.
What you see now is about a fifth generation product. My earlier goal posts were made of metal and presented a potential eye hazard so it is now made of flexible foam.
The football is your standard 8 ½ x 11 sheet printed brown with the white laces. When folded properly it looks like what is shown on the web page.
